Duties
You will serve as a working leader of approximately three or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work.
You will ensure that needed plans, blueprints, material and tools are available; and that needed stock is available from supply locations.
You will make repairs to wood or wood substitute items by taking proper measurements and by close fitting of replacement members.
You will patch, repair, replace brick, block surfaces and structures, and form, lay and finish concrete surfaces.
You will prepare a variety of surfaces for painting, such as plaster, wood, dry wall, metal, or other compositions, by removing scale, rust, dirt, and grease.
You will perform tasks relating to assisting the journeyman mechanic in the performance of major repair work and maintenance on large air conditioning systems, cold storage and cold room equipment.
You will make standard repairs to plastic, copper, and galvanized water supply systems.
You will install, repair, and overhaul all types of galley equipment.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You must be able to obtain and maintain a valid California Drivers License.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to have normal vision and hearing without corrective devices and the ability to distinguish basic colors relating to electrical wiring, paints, titles, etc.
- You will lift and carry weights up to 100lbs, 30-70libs on average, for short distances.
- You will be required to obtain a U.S. Government Operator's License to operate a truck up to three tons.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You are required to furnish your own tools of the trade as listed by the organization.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
