About the Position: Serves as Senior Planner responsible for development of mobility analyses and reports for operation plans, programs, and studies to assist Department of Defense (DoD) elements.
Duties
Works with the services and the Joint Staff to develop overall policy and guidance regarding the mobilization, deployment,
redeployment, and demobilization of forces.
Represents the command at conferences, working groups, and wargames regarding deployment and force closure issues.
Oversees the SDDC analysis of operation plans in support of combatant commanders and recommends deployment planning activities and development of transportation/strategic mobility policies.
Interfaces with SDDC subordinate commands, giving guidance and direction for their planning activities, providing the status of operation plan development, and ensuring that necessary data and information is made available to them.
Identifies movement problem areas and develops recommendations for changes in time-phasing, modes, port selection, and other alternatives for problem resolution.
Analyzes wartime movement requirements to determine effect on traffic management policies, procedures, and capabilities, terminal management and operations, and commercial carrier capabilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret with SCI security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- Employees who accept such time-limited appointment opportunities will be required to sign a statement of understanding.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which includes: (1) Experience with automated systems used to support strategic mobility planning; (2) Supporting cargo movement for unit deployment and readiness exercises; and (3) Developing policy and/or guidance regarding mobilization, deployment, redeployment and/or demobilization of forces.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
