You will serve as a ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT (OA) in the Operation Department (Code 300) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will review outgoing correspondence for completeness, clarity of expression, adherence to NNSY instructions and Operations Department policies, attachment of enclosures, proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
You will returns incorrect correspondence of reports for revision before submission for signature.
You will independently research, gather, analyze, and consolidate data for both recurring and special reports.
You will coordinate Operation Department services, such as telephones, office equipment, supplies, office space printing, publications, files, forms, control logs, copy machines, mail, and messenger services.
You will develop and maintain various file systems which allow for the quick retrieval of subject matters dealing with Operations Department policy, administrative requirements and operations plans.
You will make arrangements for conferences to be held in the Operations Department, arranging for necessary space and notifying all attendees.
You will make all travel arrangements, including land transportation and hotel reservations for the Department Head and senior managers.
You will use the Defense Travel System (DTS) for travel related matters.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience researching, gathering, and analyzing data for recurring and special reports.
Experience interpreting and applying regulatory and procedural requirements to process transactions.
Experience providing a wide variety of administrative and support services.
Experience compiling, consolidating, and summarizing budgetary data.
Experience coordinating travel for employees traveling on official business.
Experience coordinating and managing schedules.
