You will serve as a LEAD MATERIAL SUPPORT TECHNICIAN in the Nuclear Material Industrial Section of the Nuclear Material Support Branch, Nuclear Material Management Division, Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will direct, guide, assist, and lead at least 3 subordinate Material Support Technicians. You will ensure that all nuclear material is acceptable for end use and technical receipt inspection has been performed as required. You will ensure accurate and timely processing of computer transactions for the receipt, inspection, storage, issue, and disposal of material. You will be responsible for ensuring permanent traceability markings for Level 1 material (MIC numbers) are transferred, applied, and verified as required on barstock, rod, pipe, and tubing.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with directing, guiding, assisting, and leading at least three or more subordinates in performing a wide variety of technical support for nuclear and nuclear related material; Experience with knowledge of ADP techniques and capabilities and the ability to apply techniques; Experience with utilizing material related databases to input data and analyze findings; Experience with knowledge of inspection levels for nuclear material to determine inspection requirements of material Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
