About the Position: Serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Chief of Staff for Information Management (ACSIM) and Chief Information Officer for U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE), located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Duties
Possess knowledge of directorate procedures, policies, priorities, program goals, organization and functions of the office necessary to coordinate the administrative work within the office.
Ability to perform non-routine assignments, draft brief responses to routine correspondence, and locate information in files and preparing summary reports.
Make sound judgments within the area of responsibility, solve problems in reasonable and logical ways and have a general ability to plan, organize, and carry out routine and recurring assignments on a timely basis with only general supervision.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to obtain and provide information related to organizational, administrative, and procedural matters.
Effectively deal with frequent interruptions and changing priorities among multiple activities which require quick and effective action under conditions of heavy pressure.
Anticipate necessary actions or develop appropriate information as required and have no difficulty in adjusting multiple assignments around top priority assignments.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing schedules and/or calendars and reminding senior staff of commitments; reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence for grammar, spelling and format; screening calls and visitors to appropriate office and/or supervisor for proper resolution; maintaining administrative files, reference publications, and suspense files in accordance with regulatory guidance; managing operating funds to ensure expenditures are within operating budget for the directorate; using computer software to prepare correspondence, graphics, briefing charts, spreadsheets and maintaining suspense tracking systems for all personnel actions; utilizing office automation to accomplish clerical, statistical, and data entry tasks for the organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Office Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
