You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC) in the Network Development and Infrastructure Branch (10911), Information Technical (IT) Infrastructure and Operations Division (1091), Information Technology & Cyber Security Office (ITACS) (109) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will maintain updated network architecture and infrastructure drawings; develop associated procedures; monitor capacity and performance; perform scanning and applicable patching; troubleshoot; and propose and implement improvement initiatives. You will implement required lifecycle maintenance for hardware and software within the Branch’s area of responsibility You will analyze, diagnose, and correct recurring and emergency problems and faults with shipyard operating system software, hardware, and firmware, or initiate vendor corrective action, as appropriate, in order to restore normal operations You will develop and maintain metrics/dashboards to provide visibility and context needed by internal and external stakeholders. You will manage network associated infrastructure hardware and software to include routers, switches, network encryption systems, network management systems, firmware, and wireless network components of the NNSY IT environment. You will develop site plans for IT installations to determine space, infrastructure, electrical and environmental requirements necessary to deliver IT Services. You will perform duties and functions to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, availability of systems, networks, databases, and data. You will be asked to lead projects and/or teams as required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience implementing expert knowledge of IT security principles and methods to includes firewalls, proxies, intrusion detection systems (network and host-based), packet filtering, and Layer 2, 3, and 4 network segregation. Extensive knowledge of Open System Interconnection (OSI) Layers 1-4 and familiarity with routing and switching protocols. Experience performing configuration management functions and evaluate their operational characteristics by utilizing knowledge of network systems, architecture, and infrastructure to perform Experience with overall Federal, DoD, and departmental policy, business rules, and regulations regarding data element standardization and expert knowledge of the department's general IT standards. Experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing with senior management and diverse user groups to include oral/visual presentations. Experience planning and coordinating the installation and maintenance of new products (hardware and software), document hardware configurations, optimize the functionality of existing IT systems, provide advice and guidance on a wide range of complex IT issues, and interpret IT policies (standards and guidelines). Experience resolving installation and system failure problems, identifying and mitigating security risks, and maintaining IT equipment integrity and availability. Experience implementing expert knowledge of networking concepts, principles, practices, procedures, network cryptograph, and operational requirements within the analytical ability to identify, isolate alleviate local area network errors. Experience integrating data systems into computer local area networks/wide area networks. Experience with operation, configuration, and troubleshooting routing protocols (Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP). Experience applying IT security principles and methods, analytical ability and communication techniques sufficient to update the shipyard's disaster recovery plans, responding to new security requirements and advising and presenting plans to IT management for review and approval. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving. 1.
