You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (DATAMGT/INFOSEC) in the Database Administration (DBA)/SQL/Oracle Support Branch (10915), IT Infrastructure & Operations Division (1091), Information Technology & Cybersecurity (ITACS) Office (109) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will monitor database log files, applies security patches required by Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVMs) or other Information Assurance (IA) mandates, and apply vendor hotfixes and patches. You will implement Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIGs) to ensure database software/systems reliability and accessibility; and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data. You will perform complex Oracle and/or SQL Server database software and system analysis, design, programming, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance functions for corporate database systems and applications. You will coordinate the work and scheduling of the installation of subject area applications and databases, such as Oracle patches and upgrades, IA updates, Central Design Agency (CDA) application, software, and data releases. You will delivery customer support services; including installation, configuration, data analysis, troubleshooting, customer assistance and/or training, in response to customer reported incidents through the submission of appropriate work tickets. You will coordinate testing and training for user departments, other IT personnel and management for subject area IT applications, software tools, database systems and data flow processes.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires rotating shift work.
  • This position requires evening and weekend work.
  • The position often requires irregular hours.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying advanced information technology concepts, standards, techniques, and procedures sufficient to install, manage and administer various application and database systems at one of the government's largest and most complex industrial shipyards. Experience applying database STIGs, Oracle security patches, vendor hotfixes, application and database security certification, accreditation requirements, and processes. Experience working with Oracle DBMS, Oracle SQL, Reflections, UNIX/SUN Solaris and Microsoft Windows environments to manage databases, applications, and interfaces from a client as well as a server perspective. Experience applying Oracle DBMS concepts, principles, and methods including database logical and physical design, normalization, storage capacity management, query languages, table relationships, views, and backup and recovery procedures.
