Duties
Serves as an application developer performing complex application coding supporting critical mission support applications primarily utilizing SAP ABAP.
Uses a variety of application programming languages, and programming tools to write applications and interface software to satisfy user requirements.
Designs and develops assigned application code in accordance with established security and privacy requirements.
Reviews application vulnerability scans and updates application code to remediate vulnerabilities.
Serves as member of a project team and/or performs program area support representing application development in the project team.
Incumbent is responsible for a variety of product development assignments to include but not limited to requirements definitions, applications design and development, testing, implementation, and problem resolution.
Performs unit testing on developed code and assists in test case development for integrated and end-to-end testing.
Participates in development of project proposals.
Works with End-user representative and functional analysts to define and understand customers' needs.
Analyzes requirements for technical feasibility and completeness.
Provides input on the impacts, risks and risk mitigation of software development decision, plans, designs and specifications.
Provides technical expertise to information system personnel for system design and other information system analysts responsible for related portions of the application during development of system architectural design and software development.
Adheres to application coding standards, procedures, policies, regulations, and guidelines.
Ensures that internal software quality assurance and configuration management practices are used when designing and developing large technically complex applications and/or subsystems.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Developing application code supporting mission critical applications utilizing industry standard coding languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, C#, or SAP ABAP.
- Perform and document Unit testing on developed application code.
- Analyze, evaluate, develop, test, implement, modify, and maintain application code in assigned area.
- Recommend alternate approaches to application design to increase coding efficiency and address coding vulnerabilities.
- Assist in integrated and end-to-end testing as needed to ensure code functionality across supporting interfaces, Application Programming Interfaces, and file transfers to and from other applications.
- Develop software development test plans, prepare test cases, procedures and data, conduct training, and analyze and document test results for assigned application coding environment.
- Evaluate management and user requirements, analyze interrelationships, develop effective application code design approaches, test new revised systems, applications and processes and develop procedural instruction in the implementation and operation of new/revised system changes.
- Define and document system application development operational concepts, system wide design decisions, system architectural design; and create user documentation.
