This position is located in the Physical Security (NNT) organization of Security and Continuity of Operations (NN), Chief Administrative Office (N), Bonneville Power Administration (BPA).
As Physical Security Specialist you will serve as the programmatic advisor and technical expert to the Physical Security Manager, providing technical guidance, information, and assistance in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, managing, integrating, and evaluating a physical security program.

- This position does not support remote work. You will be required to report physically to the official reporting worksite as specified by the supervisor, but no less than 3 days per pay period.
- This position requires an initial drug test prior to appointment and random drug or drug and alcohol testing thereafter. .
- Failure to test or a positive result on random drug or drug and alcohol tests conducted after appointment may result in removal from Federal employment.
- This position has been designated as Critical Sensitive High Risk and requires a security clearance at the DOE "Q" level; the incumbent will be required to access, process, use, and safeguard classified information.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain this clearance level; failure to do so may result in separation from federal service.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as: (1) Providing physical security policy consultation and direction, interpreting various security requirements and guidelines, and implementing and evaluating security programs based on established requirements (e.g, Executive Orders, other laws, administrative rules and directives required under DOE, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), NERC CIP standards); (2) ensuring the compliance of physical security programs by leading engagement with physical security team members, regulatory compliance office, and other stakeholders; (3) analyzing the efficiency and effectiveness of a physical security program and implementing improvements to ensure that security objectives and goals are achieved; (4) understanding the change in threat, consequence, and resources availability to develop plans on how to meet security obligations for protecting critical infrastructure.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
