This position serves as a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist, and the work assigned is of a very confidential, complex and highly sensitive nature. This position performs the security-related functions in support of a Network Personnel Suitability and Credentialing Program (hereinafter, Personnel Security Program) within a Shared Services Unit, and assures that all appointees have the appropriate level of security/suitability clearance commensurate with their assignment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 11/22/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Preferred experience: Completion of fundamentals of suitability for suitability and fitness adjudicators course
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Oversees the daily operation of the unit and ensures that agency policies and priorities are being followed. Performs a wide range of personnel security/suitability concepts, principles, and practices while reviewing, analyzing and resolving complex personnel security issues. Conducts adjudications of personnel suitability. Responsible for interpreting policy, providing authoritative interpretations and guidance to management officials and other personnel security officers. Responsible for the PIV Program planning at a major organizational level. Addresses system and technical issues and resolves problems for staff. Counsels subordinates, develops performance standards, and rates staff. Hears and resolves minor complaints from employees; refers group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to a higher-level supervisor or manager.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary and is usually accomplished while the employee is comfortably seated at a desk or table.
