Duties
Responsible for the operation of the installation security communications, police network, mobile patrols throughout the installation, and access control.
Maintain status of patrols to include location, assigned mission, and capabilities.
Respond to and investigates emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.
Coordinate emergency responses between security, fire, and other emergency units.
Appear in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings.
Coordinate desk operations with prior and succeeding shifts and assures that incomplete actions are fully understood.
Responsible for maintaining police blotters, journals and various DA Police reports in accordance with established procedures.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- This is an obligated position.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT).
- Must qualify with assigned weapons.
- This position requires the Incumbent to obtain and maintain certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /first aid techniques.
- Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW 190-56
- Required to wear uniforms.
- Work may require flying on military aircraft.
- Incumbent must be able to act in the capacity of a first responder to critical incidents.
- Incumbent of this position must be prepared to execute the lawful orders of critical incident commanders.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force.
- Incumbent must successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within one year (12 months).
- The incumbent may be subject to recall in emergency situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
