Duties

Gather facts or evidence for use in assigned cases. Take charge of accident scenes and conduct investigation. Apply knowledge of state and federal administrative laws, including procedures, regulations, guidelines, and precedents related to case preparation and settlements. Apply knowledge of the local, state, and Federal laws, principles, and procedures used in apprehending a criminal suspect, including policies for pursuit and proper use of force and detention. Detect violations of laws, rules or regulations to support public safety and security. Apply laws from multiple levels to correctly assess violations. Apply knowledge of policies and procedures for operating emergency motor vehicles, including police cars, motorcycles, bicycles, all-terrain vehicles, and boats. Conduct traffic surveys and analyze results to provide written recommendation for the installation to the Command. Perform routine inventory of firearm weapons issued to ensure accountability.

Requirements

  • Secret Security clearance.
  • Drug testing designated position.

  • Valid state drivers license.
  • Business travel 10%.
  • Weapons certification.
  • Rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority.
  • Meet all requirements for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW AR 190-56.
  • Graduate from DOD, Federal, National or State approved Traffic Management and Collision Investigation.
  • Graduate from United States Army Civilian Police Academy.
  • Pass the annual Physical Agility Test (PAT).
  • Pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /first aid techniques.
  • This is a Term position.

Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience which includes police law enforcement procedures and traffic investigation, police interrogation of suspects, apprehending suspects committing acts of violence and protecting evidence collected from crime scenes. Must have experience that provide knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations with police law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
