Duties

Conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes. Proper documentary control of the safe and secure storage of all evidence. Examines scene of incident. Provide investigation services for violations of Federal, State, County, and DA statutes, laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations. Conduct complete investigations of alleged criminal violations. Investigate to completion any case not referred to other agencies. Maintain integrity of information or evidence for prosecution.

Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Requires working irregular hours and weekend to include being on call.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy or graduate within a one year of hire date, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Successfully graduated from the USAMPS Military Police Investigator Course or complete within one year of hire date.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil and criminal action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) IAW 190-56.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the functions of the position to standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56 and maintain a level of fitness to physically perform the position.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 and successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level GS-07, which includes: Detective or Police Officer work experience conducting investigations of crimes, resolving crimes, interviewing victims and suspects, analyze investigative facts and evidences in order to develop case information to use in pressing charges and bringing suspect to trials.; Maintaining surveillance over areas with high rates of crime. Investigations involve searching crime scenes for clues, interviewing witnesses, following leads, analyzing and evaluating evidence, locating suspects, and making arrests; Enforcing laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Criminal InvestigationCriminal LawDecision MakingWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
