You will serve as a Legal Assistant (OA) in the Legal Office for the School of Infantry-East of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.

Duties

You will process and review NJP proceedings and run appropriate unit diary entries. You will maintain accurate filing systems fir all JAGMAN investigations, accident repots, and general legal matters. You will keep up to date on pertinent legal procedures, rulings, and policies from higher headquarters. You will ensure appropriate action is taken to process discharges upon confirmation form higher headquarters. You will prepare and process separations to include administrative discharges.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Demonstrating knowledge of the principles, concepts, and methods of legal research in sources such as federal and state statutes, regulations, notices, policy directives, case law, and commercial legal publications to locate precedents and commentaries; 2) Working with basic legal references, rules, and regulations relating to the mission of the organization to identify and interpret legal issues to prepare summaries; 3) Demonstrating experience with military pay entitlements and the ability to audit military payroll, standardized military pay rules, regulations, laws, allowances and procedures; and 4) Using office automation tools and techniques to support office operations. This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
