About the Position: Serves as Administrative Officer for the AMEDD Information Management Directorate (IMD) and performs a variety of administrative functions essential to the operation of the directorate. IMD consists of military, civilian, and contract personnel located at Falls Church, VA and Ft Sam Houston, TX responsible for carrying out work in the five disciplines of IM/IT (Automation, Communications, Publishing and Printing, Reproduction, Visual Information).
Duties
Establishes and continually reviews, and updates complex administrative office procedures that affect the orderly and efficient flow of work within the directorate.
Responsible for management of day-to-day operations of the directorate.
Manages electronic calendars for the Director and key staff.
Utilizes a variety of medical and/or Army operating systems as well as the new systems that are currently planned to replace the existing systems to extract and analyze requested information.
Responsible for personnel related actions for the directorate.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel of up to 25% of the time may be required.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 background investigation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) operating administrative functions such as preparing a variety of correspondence, reports, records, electronic calendars, and briefs; 2) utilizing various software applications; AND 3) advising management on all personnel matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Administrative Professional.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
