About the Position: Serves as Administrative Officer and principal advisor to the Assistant Chief of Staff (ACS), G8 with the responsibility for planning, development, and execution of wide variety of essential administrative actions for the directorate.
Duties
Apply analytical ability to projects focused on management processes and procedures to improve overall organizational efficiencies.
Provide a variety of management services, both administrative and technical in nature that is essential to the direction and operation of the Directorate.
Conduct internal audits, inspections, and reviews of critical administrative functions.
Serve as training coordinator for the Directorate and make recommendations for continuing education and trainings.
Serves as Directorate point-of contact for security, providing guidance on regulations and assuring that security issues are resolved.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Secret security clearance required.
- 5% TDY required.
- One-year term trial period required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Applying qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques to aid in planning and carrying out projects; 2) Analyzing a variety of administrative/operational data, to include personnel, time and attendance policies and procedures, manpower utilization and improvement; and 3) Providing assistance to operating and management officials in overall management of administrative, financial and project controls. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources Management, Financial Management, Business Administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
