This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as an Operations Research Analyst in the Resource Analysis Division for the Army Center for Army Analysis, Fort Belvoir, VA. Applies data science and analytic techniques to Army stationing, installation, and facility problems in support of decision makers.

Duties

Maintain liaison with operations research analysts engaged in similar activities for mutual exchange of ideas and information as related to study activities and common problem sets. Develop or advise on the development of sound analytic methodologies for deriving the most effective and efficient information. Frequently consulted by others as an expert within the area of resource analyses and must often work with other specialty areas to develop solutions to complex challenges. Responsible for redefining or further defining previous studies that expose problems or highlight significant installation, facility, materiel, or other resource challenges.

Who May Apply: US CitizensIn order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analysis: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (NOTE) Must provide transcripts. In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicants must have specialized experience listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service that includes: applying state of the art data science and analytic techniques to stationing, installation, and facility problems; developing tools, models, and techniques in response to evolving issues and complex analytic challenges; conducting research to support analysis on a wide variety of problematic areas.
