About the Position:
Position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or Detail not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary Promotions or Details may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment not to exceed 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary Appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.
Duties
Assist with design and development of mechanical components used in overhaul.
Resolve any technical issues that arise that hinder production schedules.
Assist professional engineers with developing sound engineering designs.
Review and analyze technical information to determine most practical and economic methods of fabrication, modification, and assembly necessary to complete assigned overhaul projects.
Requirements
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Required to perform overtime and shift work on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized Experience requirement described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience Requirement: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting with the preparation of design sketches for final production drawings; 2) Assisting with the resolution of problems to expedite production, improve quality, and/or decrease costs; AND 3) Utilizing databases to search for drawings/schematics. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
