The Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) mission is to accelerate the adoption of data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) across the Department of Defense (DoD). The CDAO works across the Military Departments and Services, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
Duties

This position serves as the Principal Director, BA and works with the Deputy Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Officer for Business Analytics (DCDAO BA), performing a wide range of high-profile and sensitive assignments and activities impacting the operations of the office and provides expert advice regarding strategy and product management and oversees daily operations of the directorate, supervised by the DCDAO BA.
Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following:
Directs the development and analytical support of executive decision support initiatives (e.g., Business Health, Strategic Performance Metrics, National Defense Strategy implementation analysis, Dynamic Campaigning, Analysis Working Group projects, and CDAO metrics) as well as marquee enterprise analytics projects.
Leads the development and execution of the directorate strategy and operating model ensuring goals and objectives integrate CDAO and DoD-level management objectives for successful implementation.
Directs the development and use of test and evaluation strategies, data analysis techniques, and methods to assess the operational implications of data and application products and ensures documentation is accomplished, and changes the plan to correct deficiencies and add elements overlooked during original plan development.
Performs all personnel-related processes such as selecting, rewarding, rating, and disciplining subordinate Division-level managers. Sets priorities and plans schedules for completion of work and accepts, amends, or rejects the work. Exercises position management responsibilities and assures that the position structure is designed to ensure optimum efficiency.
Identifies and implements process improvements, improving quality, reducing costs, and establishing appropriate process metrics and process controls for the Directorate.
Assesses current levels of efficiency and effectiveness of programs/operations within the Directorate.

You may qualify at the GG-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-14 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to manage and oversee the daily operations of a Directorate (or equivalent); and provide expert advice regarding strategy and product management.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
