The primary purpose of this position is to receive formal, informal, and/or on-the-job training as outlined in the formal training & development plan; assignments will become progressively more difficult in nature.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and coordinates portions of projects and activities of functional specialists including contracting, engineering, manufacturing, program control, configuration, data management, test, and logistics.
Carries out special projects designed to facilitate the full use of the interns training and development.
Reviews the progress of contractors in meting program objectives.
Keeps abreast of developments in acquisition program management as well as with relevant emerging technologies to maintain current in the field and to use in accomplishing assignments.

- This is an acquisition coded position. Selectee must complete required certification level 2 in (A) Program Management within 24 months of assignment.
- This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
- The employee must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Work Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position.
- Employee is expected to meet Continuing Acquisition Education requirements.
- Travel by regularly scheduled commercial or military conveyance in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations may be required in performance of TDY.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes includes Knowledge of established techniques and requirements of Program Management responsibilities carried out by the organization. Knowledge and skill of well-defined subject matter applications to gather analyze, and evaluate information in carrying out regular and recurring assignments.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of acquisition program management principles, techniques, requirements, methods, and practices to carry out regular and recurring assignments in support of planning, organizing and managing weapon systems acquisition.
2.Basic knowledge of cost analysis and estimating policies, methods, and techniques.
3.Analytical and evaluation skills to assess capability in meeting customer or project requirements.
4.Basic knowledge of resource allocation processes, terminology, and concepts.
5. Oral and written communication skills for effective working relationships, interaction with customers, and presentation of findings and proposals.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and manage critical aspects of research development, production, and support of subsystems.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
