This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the Certain Competitive Service / Modified Direct Hire Authority. Duties

You will provide technical direction for the planning, organizing, directing, conducting and reporting of system safety engineering in direct support of all assigned programs and integrated avionics systems for air and sea applications. You will ensure the effective application of the system safety discipline to each NAVAIR program during its full life cycle. You will provide risk analyses and safety program management functions for the aircraft/weapon systems and equipment developed, produced, and maintained by NAVAIR. You will provide System Safety training and professional development for NAVAIR technical and management personnel.

• This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or DS-04 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Providing system safety support and/or technical leadership to aircraft or avionics system programs/projects; 2) Interfacing with program and/or technical leadership in resolving safety issues and hazards; 3) Applying Systems technical acumen & expertise to assess system level risk and recommending mitigation activities.
