You will serve as a Supervisory Industrial Specialist in the Air Systems Group, System Safety & Air Systems Integration Dept of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV. Duty Station: Patuxent River, MD

Duties

You will be responsible for formulating, planning, supporting, coordinating, executing, and integrating a broad range of scientific, engineering and logistics programs. You will perform system safety work involving the engineering analysis of weapons systems to identify and eliminate safety hazards inherent in the design. You will monitor, review, and evaluate strategic factors which influence the scope of work performed and support provided, as well as the resources necessary for the division to meet current and future strategic requirements. You will assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employee. You will plan work and prepare performance plans covering work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13/14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Must have experience in aviation system safety toinclude analyzing, formulating, planning, supporting, coordinating, executing, and/or integrating a broad range of scientific, engineering and logistics solutions in the technical area of system safety as it relates to aviation structures, subsystems, aeromechanics, propulsion, power, mission systems, software, or environmental engineering. DAWIA Requirement: This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and has been identified as a Career Field; N-Engineering/Tech Management at Level II- Practitioner. You are responsible for meeting applicable DAWIA certification requirements, including maintaining currency in your career field.
