About the Position: This position is located at Carl R Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos,Texas. Fort Cavazos rests in the beautiful hill and lake country of Central Texas approximately 60 miles north of Austin and 50 miles south of Waco. This position works under the general supervision of the Hospital Housekeeping Officer, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center (CRDAMC) and perform a variety of warehouse functions.
Duties
Inspect linen for quality, damage, or overall appearance.
Operate a motor vehicle to transport and deliver medical supplies, linen or equipment.
Maintain stock of supplies, equipment, or materials to ensure availability.
Scan bar codes into an automated record system to ensure receipt of information.
Note discrepancies and reports discrepancies to Material Handler Work Leader.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a pre-employment Physical Examination.
- The position requires you to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or Department of Defense license required for the type of vehicle being driven.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Personnel are often required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Most tasks require quick hand and arm movements. Workers continually handle, carry, or lift items and/or bundles that weigh up to 40 pounds; however, in receiving and shipping, occasional lifting of bulk bundles weighing over 50 pounds is required. Dexterously move, position, or operate wheeled carts or non-mechanical weight handling equipment independently or with assistance from other workers.
WORKING CONDITION:Workers perform duties inside and/or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Personnel are exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock. They may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, and solvents. When working in hazardous materials areas, they may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hardhats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, gowns, or aprons.
