As a Cybersecurity Specialist in the Computing Environments & Collaborative Technologies Branch, code 585, you will support the Lunar Communications Relay and Navigation Systems (LCRNS) project. Directly supporting Artemis missions, LCRNS is enabling a lunar communications and navigation infrastructure that meets NASA's needs, represents a sustainable, long-term approach to human and robotic exploration, and embodies an extensible solution for future travels to Mars and beyond.
Duties
Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Provide Governmental oversight to ensure vendors meet all federal IT Security requirements in accordance with the Federal Information Security Management Act.
Review system security plans to ensure the project is properly documenting all security controls and follows the Assessment and Authorization (A and A) process.
Provide recommendations to ensure that requirements are properly communicated to users, stakeholders and commercial providers and coordinate resolution to any disputes on how to meet security requirements.
Act as a liaison to secure, document and manage all interfaces utilized by the project. Examples include System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, and Interconnection Security Agreements.
Support and conduct security evaluation and testing of systems and document interconnections between system boundaries controlled by different organizations.
Manage agreements with other Government agencies and commercial providers with regards to current US Government policy on cyber security and the acceptable level of risk for operations of NASA spacecraft.
Provide technical rationale for any security requirements that cannot be met and recommend compensating controls to the Authorizing Official (AO) to support risk acceptance.
Develop Plans of Action and Milestones (POA and M) to ensure all labor, materials and schedule have been properly allocated and timelines are achievable, measurable, and complete.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
GS-13: To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Reviewing NASA policies and procedures with respect to cybersecurity practices;
Providing input on Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to assist with tracking cybersecurity issues;
Assisting in the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process.
GS-14: To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Applying policies and procedures in accordance with the Federal Information Security Management Act;
Developing Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to track cybersecurity issues;
Leading the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) process.
AND
IF you are qualifying based on experience, you MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
