About the Position: This position is located within the Womack Medical Center in Fort Liberty, NC. Incumbent will perform a combination of tasks concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and replenishing expendable and durable medical supplies for various departments within the center and outlying clinics.

Duties

Responsible for ordering or loading stocked medical items via automated systems. Manage inventory of medical supplies for various medical departments within a medical treatment facility (MTF). Establish and revise reorder frequencies for supplies within a MTF or outlining clinic. Maintain visibility on all overflow stock, initiate action to support deleted stock and/or superseded by new material for medical and non-medical supplies. Assign work to subordinates based on priority, critical expertise, capability, and requirement of assignments. Develop performance standards, evaluates performance, recommends awards, takes disciplinary action as required, conducts performance counseling, and approves leave for subordinates. Control all stock distribution in assigned areas within a MTF or outlining clinic.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a favorable result from a National Agency Background Check.
  • This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • The position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license (DL) to operate a government vehicle.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the procurement process of medical supplies, equipment, and services within a medical treatment facility (MTF) or clinic; providing advice, guidance, or assistance in medical supply operations for a MTF or clinic; utilizing an automated logistics systems such as Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) to input and retrieve data; and assisting with workload distribution for subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: 1 ½ years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsInventory ManagementLeadershipSupply Planning Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
