About the Position: This Human Resources Assistant (MILITARY/OA) is located in Directorate of Human Resources Div., Ft, Meade Maryland. Fort Meade is conveniently located between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore. The installation lies approximately five miles east of Interstate 95 and one-half mile east of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
Duties
Serves as a senior Human Resources Assistant for the ID Card Section. Works independently under the general supervision of the Chief, Personnel Processing Branch (PPB), Military Personnel Division (MPD), and Director, Human Resources (DHR). Receives instructions on new assignments, changes in regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures from supervisor who expects incumbent to accomplish assignments with a high degree of independence, within established policies and procedures. Recommendations made and actions taken are accepted by the supervisor with little or no technical review. Completed assignments are reviewed for timeliness, conformance to overall program requirements, thoroughness, appropriateness, and the identification, interpretation, regulatory application and/or procedural alternatives. Unusual or difficult problems are referred to the supervisor for solution or guidance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves utilizing military human resources principles, concepts, and procedures; maintaining personnel automated systems and databases (i.e., Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS), Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS), and Identification Cards (ID) services); and providing guidance on military human resources issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
