You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST/ GEPHYSICIST/ OCEANOGRAPHER in the Survey Planning Division (N32), Operations Department (N3), Office of the Executive Officer (CODE 01) of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Duties
You will ensure a wide spectrum of environmental data is collected per ship and aircraft without data collection systems interfering with each other.
You will interface with U.S. Department of Defense and State staff, Embassies and Defense Attachments, and foreign governments to obtain approval for survey operations while promoting cooperation, and exchanging information and ideas.
You will determine the legality and implications of surveying in any AOR, manages and schedules ships, aircraft, and obtains all approvals required for conducting these operations.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience leading scientist on survey platforms. Experienced in conducting informal briefs/debriefs and briefs for visiting officials and technical groups. Experience with oceanographic survey procedures and the use of survey equipment used in environmental data collection. Experienced with interpreting survey plans, concept of operations, and operational specifications for aircraft and ship surveys. Experience coordinating tasks and projects by prioritizing assignments based on requirements. Experience executing projects directed towards solving problems using analytical skills.

General Physical Science Series, 1301
Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Geophysics Series, 1313
Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.).
OR
Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Oceanography Series, 1360
Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences
OR
Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
