You will serve as a LEAD ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in AN/SQQ-89, SVTT & Surface Fire Control Branch, Code 287, Combat Systems (Electronics) Division Code 280, Engineering Department Code 200the of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Duties

You will articulate and communicate to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion. You will identify, distribute and balance workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and/or occupational specialization. You will serve as coach, facilitator and/or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives and in consensus building activities among team members. You will research, learn and apply a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency and work products. You will lead functional checkouts, tests, and inspections of major systems. You will perform special engineering analyses and studies in support of Commander, Surface Forces Atlantic and Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) for the purpose of developing improvements in design, maintenance procedures, material, etc.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to perform occasional sea duty.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training which is offered during working hours.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying electronic, electrical, mechanical principles, practices and theories, related to Undersea Warfare (USW), Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) systems and all of their associated equipment encompassing an extensive body of standard procedures in the area on board US Naval Surface Ships. Experience understanding and interpreting plans, schematics, drawings and specifications and making field adjustments/modifications as required. Experience leading a team of government employees, military members and contractors in the performance of assigned tasks and assignments. Experience preparing and presenting reports, interpreting policies and guidelines, providing advice, guidance to customers including the maintenance community and negotiating solutions to problems.
