Serves in the Gaithersburg Safety Health and Environment Division as a representative to the NIST Engineering Laboratory. Provides support on inspections, hazards identification, and hazards mitigation in an engineering, construction, industrial, and office setting.
Duties
The successful applicant will:
Inspect office, engineering, construction, industrial, and robotics facilities.
Provide safety support in a scientific research environment.
Implements safety and occupational health programs in a scientific research environment
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitable for Federal employment
- Merit applicants must meet time-in-grade/band requirements, as applicable
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination
- Completion of Confidential Financial Disclosure, Form OGE-450
- Bargaining Unit Position: No
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 (ZA-III at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as:
Conducting safety inspections and identifying safety hazards in office, engineering, construction, industrial, and robotics facilities
Providing safety support in a scientific research environment
Implementing safety and health programs in a scientific research environment
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
