Serves in the Gaithersburg Safety Health and Environment Division as a representative to the NIST Office of the Associate Director for Management Resources. Provides support on inspections, hazard identification, hazard mitigation in engineering, fabrication, and office settings. Will also be responsible for providing fire station safety support.
Duties
The successful applicant will:
-Inspect offices, engineering and fabrication facilities.
-Provide safety support in a scientific research environment.
-Implement safety and occupational health programs in a scientific research environment
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitable for Federal employment
- Merit applicants must meet time-in-grade/band requirements, as applicable
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination
- Bargaining Unit Position: No
Qualifications
To qualify, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 (ZA-III at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as:
Conducting safety inspections and identifying safety hazards in office and engineering fabrication facilities
Providing safety support in a scientific research environment
Implementing safety and health programs in a scientific research environment
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
