This position is in the Facility Management Services at the, Veterans Administration Western Colorado Health Care System. The primary purpose of the position is to provide support to the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) section including locksmith duties. The incumbent serves as the Program Support Assistant for the Maintenance & Operation section.
Duties
Duties to include but not limited to:
Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents.
Collects, assembles, and compiles data for administrative and management reports.
Composes, edits and review letters and reports for accuracy and completeness.
Screens calls and personally answers calls when the requested information concerns routine and procedural requirements.
Compiles data and statistical information.
Reviews and processes documents and reports.
Establishes and maintains office files and records.
Tracks program specific information.
Performs database file searches.
Uses word processing applications to perform office automation duties.
Uses spreadsheet software to graphically display data.
Responsible for issuing keys and maintaining records of keys that are issued and returned as well as codes for cypher and combination locks.
Required to compile and summarize budget and financial data.
Reviews, edits, and issues supply requisition for technical equipment, office, elevators, and any other facility equipment serviced on a contract.
Contacts vendors for repair and maintenance of equipment and maintains records on work accomplished.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Physical Requirements: The work is dynamic and varied. Work requires sitting, walking, standing, bending and carrying light to moderately heavy computer printouts, books, papers, and files. Incumbent performs visual and operational checks to locate sources of trouble and determine the best method for correction such as in-house work order or contacting vendors. Work at this level seldom requires lifting or carrying of items weighing more than 7 kilograms (15 pounds).
Work Environment: The work is normally performed in an office setting. The work area typically is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
GS-06 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience is defined as: Providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; maintain and control accounts, managing work orders, receiving calls and answering routine requests, as well as take messages.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
