NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities.
This position is located in the Administrative Services Office, National Endowment for the Humanities. The Administrative Services Office provides logistical support to the Endowment. The incumbent of this position is the Senior Support Services Specialist.
Duties
Ensures directories and floor plans are up to date for COOP purposes and disseminated.
Oversee physical property inventory.
Conducting periodic safety and health inspections of facilities, areas, operations, etc., to ensure conformance with OSHA regulations, rules and standards.
Liaison with government agencies for space and service requirements.
Assists in submission of reports regarding building safety.
Maintains budget system for the control of funds allocated to the office.
Assists Director with reports i.e. Sustainability, OSHA Safety Reports, FEMA month and quarterly, and etc.
Assists in the development of personnel policies and practices based on knowledge of procedures and workloads.
Conducts surveys to improve productivity and efficiency of operation to reduce waste of manpower and funds.
Reviews inventory control system for all accountable property.
Initiates equipment and product demonstration to best serve user needs and best buy strategy.

- Favorable background investigation

- Term appointment not-to-exceed 13 months, which may be converted to a permanent appointment by organizational staffing authorization.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
At the GS-11 level Qualified candidates must possess:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level or equivalent experience.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: planning and assigning work to lower-level staff for short/long term projects; ability to gain cooperation and coordinate the work of others; determines work priorities and makes assessments based on complexity of the work; communicating with all levels of the agencies staff related to (printing/mailing/vendor coordination).
