About the Position: Serves as the Communication Administrative Assistant with the responsibility for preparing and executing US Army Medical Center of Excellence events. This position is located at Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Duties

Assist the Protocol Officer in the development of complete itineraries for distinguished visitors, U.S. and foreign flag officers, state governors, and state and Federal legislators, and others designated by the Command Group. Participate in staffing proposed itineraries with involved supporting organizations and assists them in making any necessary adjustments to ensure proper recognition and attention is provided to distinguished visitors. Perform day-to-day clerical and administrative duties for the supervisor and staff. Use a personal computer with word processing and spreadsheet software and printing equipment to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve and print a variety of standardized documents to include social media analytics.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the execution of protocol functions; participating in the development of itineraries and scheduling visits for distinguished visitors; using office equipment and computer to perform clerical and administrative duties; preparing a variety of correspondence and reviewing for proper spelling, grammar, format, spacing, and arrangement. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision MakingOrganizational AwarenessTechnical CompetenceWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
