The incumbent works as a Program Support Assistant under the direct supervision of the Women's Health Medical Director (WHMD) at the Hershel "Woody" Williams VAMC. The purpose of the position is to provide administrative/clerical support to the WHMD, Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM), and Women's Health Clinical Coordinator.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Performs work involving the collection, compilation and/or tracking of data and statistical information in support of the Women's Health Program.
Assists in the planning, review and reporting of data/statistical results for analysis, evaluation and intervention. Establishes protocols for incoming data, organizes computerized data sets and retrieves computerized data. Performs a basis analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Maintains a variety of files for administrative and professional activities.
Provide technical and resource services and support to the activities of the Program, including, but not limited to its participation in the Women's Health Practice Based Research Network, awareness and outreach campaigns, educational forums, and other special projects.
Activities may require incumbent to acquire background information, or materials from other sources; assemble and summarize data; coordinate personnel and resources; disseminate information to appropriate audiences; maintain accurate records.
Provide specialized and administrative support to professional staff, Program Manager, Coordinator, and other staff.
Maintains accurate paper and electronic records of cases. Compiles regular and special reports. Arranges travel, order supplies, equipment, etc.
Provides good customer service through all modes of communication. Supports the Women's Health PACT teams through written and electronic communication.
Proficient with computer skills and software programs. Types letters, reports, memoranda, rosters, mailing lists and other office communications.
Screens all calls and visitors, answering most questions and completing most business involving established policy or routine matters without referring to the supervisor.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Experience: One full year of general experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the positions. Qualifying examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to the following:
Screens all calls and visitors, answering most questions and completing most business involving established policy or routine matters without referring to the supervisor.
Maintains a variety of files for administrative and professional activities
Provides good customer service through all modes of communication.
Proficient with computer skills and software programs.
Assist with preparing reports and presentations for leadership and staff.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, or driving an automobile, etc. No specific physical demands are required to perform the work.
