This position is located within the Mental Health Department of the Hershel "Woody" Williams VA Medical Center in Huntington, WV. The Program Support Assistant primarily serves in the Workplace Violence Prevention Program and supports the Mental Health Training Programs.
Duties
Duties:
The Program Support Assistant will assist with the annual training needs assessment for issues related to violence in the workplace. They will act as the liaison between Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) Coordinator and Learning Resource Center (LRC). The Program Support Assistant will coordinate scheduling and resources for all PMDB, Disruptive Behavior Reporting System (DBRS), and Behavioral Risk training including the coordination of classes in the Training Management System (TMS), submitting appropriate documentation to LRC, and scheduling appropriate facility trainers to meet training requirements. They will record credentials and performance of PMDB trainers to ensure training qualifications and effectiveness are met.
As the academic liaison in support of Mental Health Training programs, the Program Support Assistant is responsible for independently developing, planning, and directing the administrative functions of the training programs and affiliations within Mental Health Service.
Additional Duties Include:
Technical and administrative coordination and support of training classes.
Provide staff support, including tracking of appointments of all Licensed Independent Providers, tracking of professional practice evaluations and records management of sensitive chart review files.
Track service level quality, patient safety and risk management assignments.
Manages accurate Emergency contact and staffing support data for the entire service
Serves as administrative liaison for professional stakeholders in the community in support of affiliations and training programs.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/16/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: 1) Provide service recovery and service level patient advocacy, addressing patient needs as close to the original point of service as possible. 2) Service level operations support such as timekeeping, engineering work orders, scheduling conference rooms, contingency plan management, monitoring physical environment to keep it free from hazards, and supporting education of staff on facility and service level procedures. 3) TMS Learning Administration tracking and training requirements. 4) Prepare forms, letters, committee documentation and standard operating procedures that are in compliance with established regulations. 5) Produce meeting agendas, record committee minutes following established facility approval and reporting structure.

Physical Requirements: The work area is usually an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office of medical facility setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The sedentary and may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. The work requires light to moderate levels/times performing keyboarding to prepare correspondence.
