Duties
You will assess a patient systematically to identify the nature, extent, and seriousness of the patient's condition.
You will establish on-scene control procedures (e.g., zone control, decontamination) in a hazardous material incident.
You will control and extinguish a fire during firefighting operations.
You will complete written reports and records on emergency services incidents, patients, drugs administered equipment, or supplies used.
You will use fire ground tactics to direct highly specialized fire and medical apparatus and equipment.
Requirements

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
- Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
- Firefighter positions within the Department of the Navy comply with the statutory requirements of Title 5, United States Code, by limiting the maximum entry age for firefighters to age 37. This is published in DoD 1400.25 SC 336.5.2.1.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing fire prevention, fire protection and emergency operations; 2) Performing emergency medical service and hazardous materials responses; 3) Performing airfield fire control, disaster response/control and recovery.

These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard to meet the requirement. The following certification is also required: National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic (NREMT-P) and must have been awarded by the National Registry.
