This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Human Resources Division, Compensation and Benefits Section. This position primary purpose is to provide clerical and technical support and processes a full range of personnel actions. Assists Human Resources Specialists in the division by providing technical human resources support.

As a Human Resources Assistant (OA)your typical work assignments may include: Assisting Human Resources (HR) Specialist with the onboarding of new employees. Reviewing, coding and processing a full range of personnel actions. Using HR systems to enter, update, maintain, retrieve and track a variety of personnel transactions, information and reports. Providing information to customers on human resources topics such as benefits, pay, leave, personnel records.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Basic Requirement AND Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification. Basic Requirement: Must be able to type 40 words per minute to qualify. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify for the GS-07 position, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06, including; (1) Utilizing a human resources information system to code and process personnel actions; (2) Responding to customer inquiries concerning human resources related issues; (3) Utilizing office automation software applications to compose a variety of documents and forms; and (4) Maintaining hard copy and electronic files. To qualify for the GS-08 position, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 including; (1) Applying principles and practices of personnel processing rules, regulations, and procedures to code and work entries in an automated system; (2) Monitoring entry of personnel and payroll data into the Integrated Personnel/Payroll System; and (3) Verifying nature of actions, regulatory authority, and data element information in order to code and process personnel actions.
