Duties

Serve as a Management Support Specialist in the Directorate of Public Works (DPW) on matters pertaining to the Directorate's internal administrative and management activities. Responsible for the day-to-day management of critical administrative programs and functions in support of the organization. Develop new or modified procedures and strategies for the internal and external integration of day-to-day and long-range activities Receive various types of correspondence from personnel and reviews for correct format, punctuation, spelling, and grammatical accuracy. Receive scheduling requests from inside and outside the Directorate for meetings, conferences, and training events. Responsible for submitting purchase requests for training through the General Funds Enterprise Business Systems (GFEBS). Participate in crisis situations during real-world or planner exercises, i.e. anti-terrorism, natural disasters. Conduct duties as facility manager, responsible for the inspection, maintenance and upkeep of all buildings assigned to the organization.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete the Federal Emergency Management Agency training classes to participate in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) functions.
  • Occasional Business Travel.
  • A National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Background Investigation is required.
  • Probationary period may be required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing a variety of office automation software to produce emails, documents, reports, and schedule meetings; providing administrative and management advisory services relative to policies and procedures to office personnel; reviewing and analyzing incoming and outgoing correspondence; maintaining files in accordance with office procedures; utilizing a variety of automated systems to schedule training, travel and/or enter timekeeping; and providing recommended action to administrative issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below: Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of specialized experience and graduate education beyond one year such that the total meets at least 100% of the requirement. To calculate the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying specialized experience by 12, then divide your total semester hours of graduate education beyond one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total must equal at least 100% to qualify. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Oral CommunicationProblem SolvingTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
