Duties

Serves as senior Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) application developer which installs, configures, and maintains Commercial Off-the-Shelf software applications. Participates in engineering projects such as system design, product development, office automation support, infrastructure support, and documents all processes and configurations in accordance with DAAS IT configuration policies. Customizes end-user web pages to meet user provisioning requirements of operating systems and Automated Information’s Systems (AISs). Adheres to software development best practices within the software development cycle. Provides technical assistance, advice, consultation, and training to DAAS customers and end users in support of the DAAS user provisioning system. Develops project plans, Plan of Action and Milestone (POAM) reports, implementation guidance, and assesses implementation of IA vulnerability alerts, and conducts security validation and remediation activities.

Qualifications

To qualify for a IT Specialist (APPSW/INFOSEC), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Provides technical guidance in designing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining programs. Translates and interprets customer and functional requirements for testing, installing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining software. Provides guidance to management and customers, as well as provides training and guidance to peers. Develops scripts and applications in Java and eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and practices digital identity provisioning concepts and works with Windows and UNIX operating systems. Manages projects utilizing project management best practices and theories concerning issues of database design, software testing, evaluation principles, and standards. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed: 1. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
