You will serve as a SUPERVISORY EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the Planning Section Code 730.1 of the Crane Maintenance Division Code 730 in the Deputy Lifting and Handling Department Code 701, of the Lifting and Handling Department Code 700 at NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will plan, schedule, and assign overall work assignments to the section's employees and other personnel placed under their cognizance. You will coordinate work of subordinates, prescribes methods and procedures, and sets standard of quantity and quality. You will train subordinates in work methods and procedures and support the members of each project planning team to ensure that their contributions to the team are technically correct, timely, and cost effective. You will work closely with other planning coordinators and lifting and handling management to ensure consistent and truly integrated planning projects and tools are developed.

  • You will be required to maintain nuclear qualifications.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: -Experience interpreting and applying policies, regulations, directives, instructions, procedures and technical work documents governing the aspects of packing and controlling work. -Experience using resources required to execute work and training in order to provide advice and guidance to project personnel to assist in complying with requirements and working efficiently. -Experience analyzing program requirements. -Experience identifying specific problems or adverse trends, evaluating alternatives and development recommendations for changes and resolutions to significant issues. -Experience using concepts, principles, and practices or project management and project planning timetables that enable the Planning Supervisor to serve as a technical authority on the duties and responsibilities of the project planning team.   • Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment.

  • Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders.
  • Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met.
  • Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement.
