This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operations Division, Cyber Support Section. This position primary purpose is to support the developing and recommending hardware and software enhancements, modifications and upgrades to accommodate and enhance SCC's cyber mission.

As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALISTyour typical work assignments may include: Providing project management and technical leadership to support cyber investigations. Addressing cyber issues involving IT systems with a global and national impact. Preparing specifications for implementation by computer users in an undercover or exploitation manner. Participating in discussions, meetings, and briefings to describe and explain proposals and recommendations for key IT related requirements. Developing functional requirements, documents, submits, tracks, and supports required efforts to obtain approval of new requirements. Preparing and presenting briefings to senior management officials on complex/controversial issues.

Qualifications

The Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210, has an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR), which must be met for this position in addition to the specialized experience. Basic Experience Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 Federal grade level in performing the following duties:1) Providing policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of services throughout the agency; 2) Conducting risk and vulnerability assessment of planned and installed systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs in covert cyber-operations; and 3) Developing logical data models to be translated into workable physical database designs. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
