The mission of the Office of Facilities and Property Management (OFPM) is to advance NIST's mission success by planning, building, operating, maintaining and servicing facilities that provides a safe, secure, and sustainable environment.
Duties
Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on buildings, grounds, structures, fixtures, and utilities
Maintaining exterior areas by mowing grass, trimming trees and shrubbery, removing snow, collecting litter, and performing other landscaping duties
Operating and performing routine maintenance checks on tools, vehicles, and equipment such as mowers, chainsaws, plows, tractors, and hand tools
Applying pesticides and herbicides to eradicate weeds, insects, rodents, and other pests from facilities and grounds.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitable for Federal employment
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination
- Call back or emergency overtime required
- Bargaining Unit Position: Yes - American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 2186
Qualifications
There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform Maintenance Worker duties, such as operating heavy equipment and maintaining exterior grounds components/systems without more than normal supervision.
Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
