Duties
Position is located at National Institute of Standards and Technology, Office of Facilities and Property Management, Boulder Facility Maintenance Division. The primary purpose of this position is the operation, repair and maintenance of exterior grounds systems in a research and development facility/campus. As a Grounds Maintenance Mechanic, the person selected for this position will perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of grounds, buildings and related structures, fixtures and utilities. They will install, operate, maintain and repair exterior civil/building systems commonly found in a government research and development facility. Typical work assignments include maintaining and operating the site irrigation as well as maintaining the grounds landscape through mowing, line trimming and pruning. Site irrigation duties include operating and repairing the irrigation system throughout the site which consists of a pump-house, time clocks, zone valves, sprinkler heads and piping.
This position is a primary member of the snow removal team during winter operations and may act as a backup to the snow crew chief on occasion, which include operating snow blowers, plows, heavy equipment and shovels to clear site walkways, parking lots and building entrances. Snow removal duties can be assigned out of hours or during normal business hours as the weather events occur.

- This position requires call back or emergency overtime.

Qualifications
There is no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance mechanic worker duties, such as those described in the duties section of this announcement, without more than normal supervision. Applicants must have experience in carpentry and plumbing.
Driver's License (Screen-Out): A valid state-issued non-commercial driver's license (CDL) is required for this position.
