Duties
Carpentry:
Build, install, repair, and adjust wood structures, including frames, walls, staircases, doors, cabinetry, and decorative trim
Use and maintain a variety of woodworking tools and equipment, ensuring precise measurements and accuracy in all carpentry tasks
Interpret plans, sketches, and specifications to organize tasks, materials, and work sequences.
Painting:
Prepare surfaces by smoothing, filling, and leveling to ensure readiness for finishing
Apply finishes, including paints and varnishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
Mix and blend colors and finishes to meet project specifications
Follow safety and application guidelines for handling and applying finishing products.
Drywall Installation:
Plan and measure drywall installation based on project specifications
Install drywall panels, studs, and framing supports
Smooth and finish drywall joints to create a seamless surface, applying texture as needed
Repair and blend drywall patches to match existing surfaces
Plumbing:
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, and faucets
Perform routine maintenance on plumbing fixtures to ensure proper function.
Snow Removal:
Clear snow and ice from sidewalks, parking areas, and building entrances to ensure safe access
Operate snow removal equipment including snow blowers, plows, and shovels during winter weather
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
- Suitable for Federal employment
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination
- Bargaining Unit Position: Yes; American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), Local 2186
- This position requires call back or emergency overtime.
Qualifications
There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and
training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform maintenance mechanic worker duties, including carpentry, painting, drywall installation, plumbing, and snow removal without more than normal supervision.
Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done. We will credit all qualifying volunteer experience in your application.
