Duties

Position is located at National Institute of Standards and Technologies, Office of Facilities and Property Management, Boulder Facility Maintenance Division. The primary purpose of this position is the operation, repair, and maintenance of exterior grounds systems in a research and development facility/campus. As a Grounds Maintenance Worker, the person selected for this position will perform a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of grounds, buildings, and related structures, fixtures, and utilities. They will install, operate, maintain and repair exterior civil/building systems commonly found in a government research and development facility. Typical work assignments include maintaining the grounds landscape through mowing and line trimming and minor irrigation repairs. Additionally, they will operate the Division's heavy equipment, perform vehicle operator checks and serve as a member of the snow removal team. Majority of work for this position is performed outside in all types of weather.

• Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical examination

Qualifications

There are no specific length or level of experience requirements. The applicant's overall background of experience, education and training must clearly demonstrate the ability to perform Maintenance Worker duties, such as operating heavy equipment and maintaining exterior grounds components/systems without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out elements and achieve an overall score of at least fifty (50%) or higher Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done.
