You will serve as an ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PSNS.

Duties

You will perform operation and integrity tests to determine the extent of repair required prior to calibration. You will perform maintenance and calibration on a wide variety of equipment and radiation measurement devices. You will calculate the intensity of radiation of known strength, or the distance from a source of radiation of known strength. You will provide technical assistance/guidance to lower level technicians involved in the various aspects of electronic repair/calibration and testing performed. You will research engineering literature and technical documentation in order to develop/design special test procedures for highly complex electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical devices. You will develop measurement techniques that will accurately verify predetermined performance specifications. You will oversee the quality control of the work performed by lower level technicians within the Calibration Laboratory.

Requirements

  • Must attend and pass the Radiation Workers Training course administered at Naval Submarine Support Facility New London.
  • Must attend and pass the RADIAC Maintenance Course currently administered at the Naval Educational Training Center Great Lakes Ill and certified RADIAC Technician.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal
  • Must pass and be able to meet the requirement of a Radiation Health physical.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, developing and modifying technical electronics engineering test procedures to identify and recommend corrective action to operational deficiencies in support of the maintenance and repair of electronic components and subsystems.
