About the Position: This position is located at the 88th MDG, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
-Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
-Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.
Duties
Manages front desk operations for a multi-clinic facility.
Arranges and schedules mental health appointments and determines patient eligibility for services.
Maintains daily appointment schedules and generates documents/reports using the automated system and appropriate software.
Updates and files patient mental health records to include, filing results of treatments, recording a variety of doctor's orders or notes on various charts, and records results of laboratory tests, x-rays, and other procedures.
Provide crisis counseling, in person and by phone, for patients requiring immediate services and referral.
Function as case manager for initiating and coordinating care with local inpatient facility for mental health treatment.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes scheduling appointments; interviewing patients to obtain information; providing crisis counseling for patients requiring immediate services/referrals; and updating patient files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as business, health administration, or psychology.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
AND
Typing Requirement: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
