Duties
As an Engineering Technician you will:
Conduct field engineering, troubleshooting, operation and maintenance of all utility systems.
Perform a variety of highly specialized tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and calibration of electronic controls and indicating and recording systems used on industrial machinery or by engineers or in energy monitoring and control systems.
Develop tests and implements methods for evaluating, analyzing and correcting facilities control systems malfunctions to return system to automatic operation and energy efficiency.
Provide technical advice and assistance to various commercial contractors and inspects contractor installed projects for, building automation, heating, ventilation, chilled water system, condensing water system and air handlers.
Analyze system failures to determine cause (hardware field devices, system communications) and makes appropriate repairs.
Anticipate the need for changes to current systems, recommend changes and when approved, adapt new technologies to current systems.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship requirement or proof of being a U.S. National must be met by closing date.

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-12 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: troubleshooting industrial instrumentation and controls equipment such as: level, pressure, temperature, or flow transmitters or actuator driven valves; developing or reviewing technical drawings or documents for instrumentation and process controls in engineering projects; investigating project sites to determine the condition of a facility or property; recording observations and technical information from field inspections; preparing project cost and manpower estimates, and presenting briefings on project plans and designs.
