You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of PSNS and IMF. This announcement will be filling two positions, one in Code 260 Fluid and Mechanical Engineering and Planning Department, and one in Code 290 Combat Systems Engineering and Planning.
Salary Range for GS-11: $81,242 - $105,612
Salary Range for GS-12: $97,376 - $126,585
Duties
You will be the established expert in the area of material ordering to include analysis of procurement lead times.
You will review/update and approve technical contractual documents for material being installed in critical systems.
You will prepare and administer complex procurement specifications for equipment associated with assigned area of expertise.
You will identify and analyze technical specifications for complex systems and components and will demonstrate expertise in the contractual modification of such equipment.
You will coordinate planning and technical services to identify existing and/or develop technical work documents which define detailed requirements necessary to accomplish authorized work for assigned projects.
You will monitor work in progress and completed work, to make sure work documents are of acceptable quality and conform to current standards.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For the GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing or modifying technical engineering methods and techniques to package, assemble, and update technical work documents (e.g., shipyard/shop processes and procedures; drawings; work controls; material, equipment, quality assurance documentation) relative to naval vessel repair, alteration, maintenance or overhaul.
For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and evaluating technical engineering methods and techniques to package, assemble, and update technical work documents (e.g., shipyard/shop processes and procedures; drawings; work controls; material, equipment, quality assurance documentation) relative to naval vessel repair, alteration, maintenance or overhaul.
