You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the FAILURE ANALYSIS BRANCH of the STRATEGIC MICROELECTRONICS DIVISION in the GLOBAL DETERRENCE & DEFENSE DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. This position is equivalent to the GS-13/14 level. The salary range shown above represents all of the positions within the band, including high grade positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $134,435).

Duties

You will manage the day to day operations of advanced parts preparation lab and failure analysis lab. You will maintain continuous awareness and shall exercise controls in the lab to insure maximum confidence in results. You will coordinate the scheduling of work, including the development of plans, test methods and operating procedure development. You will be responsible for maintaining OJT records and operator lists for all equipment in the lab. You will ensure that resources are available and procedures are adequate for proper receipt, preparation, and reissuance of items. You will be required to make technical decisions based on skills and training in the use of test equipment and associated systems. You will notify and discuss technical problems with engineering personnel, contractors, or other government representatives as necessary.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band NT-04 (GS-11/12 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and developing technical engineering methods and techniques to provide technical oversight on test and evaluation projects of microelectronic components and materials, to include performing microelectronic deprocessing, in support of a warfare program.
